Should you have Immigration Legal Counsel?

…more and more immigrants are being sent to Immigration Courts on a daily basis for removal proceedings. Many of these immigrants end up being deported why some of them get rescued through application for relief and the kindness of some of the fair-minded Judges. from USimmigrationnewspaper.com

scales-justiceSome immigrants who tried self-help end up paying more. I can understand that the economy is not good. Many of these immigrants were advised by their friends not to use attorneys for their cases. The courts may not have advised them of their legal opportunities. The courts are busy trying to process many cases. U.S. courts provide only minimal due process protection for non citizens. One who is familiar with criminal courts where defendants who could not afford an attorney were provided legal representation by a lawyer. In immigration court, a non citizen does not receive the same protections. As a result, many immigrants facing deportation are forced to proceed on their own. Immigrants should have better access to local legal counsel. Immigration law is very complex and there are many aspects to a case that require professional assistance.
